EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Part of our mission is to share classic works of literature with area young people (and their teachers) through education enrichment opportunities.

NEW! Theatre Camp: Acting Up with Shakespeare

Taught by Jeff Stegall in cooperation with Piano Central, this camp focuses on the actor’s two essential tools: voice and body. Campers learn to prepare a short monologue or scene from a Shakespeare comedy and to search a script for clues that unlock a text’s meaning. Fast-paced theatre games trigger the imagination, teach valuable skills, and keep the fun-factor high. Campers learn an objective acting method and participate in daily rehearsals that build confidence and work toward a brief performance at the end of the week. BONUS! Enrollment includes two free tickets to opening night of Taming of the Shrew and a backstage pass to meet the cast. See the Piano Central website for further details.

Brave New World Theatre Workshop

The Brave New World Theatre Workshop is held periodically as funding permits. Teachers who attend participate in various seminars, attend a performance of our current production, and participate in a post-production discussion with local respondents. Drama and English teachers who attend are able to sharpen their skills at this provocative and inspirational workshop and make valuable contacts for future endeavors. Here’s what one attendee said about the workshop: “Thank you for offering this workshop. The program from start to finish was outstanding; I cannot remember any other workshop that was more helpful and relevant.”
Please note: There will be no workshop for the 2011 season. Contact us for information on future Brave New World Theatre Workshops.
